Kereta Api Argo Lawu adalah kereta api kelas eksekutif argo yang dioperasikan PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) di Pulau Jawa dengan jurusan Jakarta (GMR) - Solo Balapan dan sebaliknya.
Kereta api ini membawa rangkaian sebanyak 8 kereta kelas eksekutif dan memiliki kapasitas 400 penumpang. Perjalanan Solo-Jakarta (576 km) ditempuh dalam waktu kurang lebih 8 jam dan hanya berhenti di Stasiun Klaten, Yogyakarta, Stasiun Karanganyar. Purwokerto, dan Jatinegara (arah Jakarta).
Pada ujicoba pertama pada tanggal 13 Juli 1995 memang sengaja dilekatkan nama JS-750 yang berarti melayani perjalanan Jakarta - Solo dengan waktu tempuh 7 setengah jam bertepatan dengan momentum HUT Kemerdekaan RI ke-50. Pada tanggal 21 September 1996 dilekatkan nama KA Solo Jaya yang kemudian pada akhirnya diganti sesuai dengan strategi brand Argo dengan nama KA Argo Lawu.
Kata Argo selain berarti gunung juga merupakan brand image layanan kereta api eksekutif yang dimaksudkan untuk menumbuhkan kebanggaan konsumennya. Sedangkan nama Lawu diambil dari nama sebuah gunung (Gunung Lawu) yang terletak disebelah timur laut Kota Surakarta (wilayah administratif Kabupaten Karanganyar dan Magetan) yang memiliki ketinggian 3.245 km.
Perjalanan kereta api dari Stasiun Solo Balapan ke Gambir pada siang hari memungkinkan penumpang menikmati indahnya panorama pegunungan di Bumi Banyumas, Kali Serayu dan Kali Progo. Sementara perjalanan dari Jakarta - Solo dilakukan pada malam hari.
Rangkaian KA Argo Lawu terditi dari 7-8 gerbong kelas eksekutif argo khusus, 1 Kereta Makan khusus (KM), dan 1 Kereta Pembangkit Listrik khusus (MP). Sejak Oktober 2008, digunakan rangkaian gerbong eksekutif argo dengan eksterior khusus (retrofit).
